Form

As with his other work, Philippe Safire seeks to reimagine everyday objects by transporting them into the realm of the virtual. The simplicity of the shirt inspired the artist to design a silhouette in actual size. This art installation Form was assembled using styrene cut outs, gold vinyl, and white thread. An animation of text and colored squares projects onto the sculpture creating an instant “augmented reality.” The translucent material gradually absorbs both natural light and artificial tints of the projection. As a result, the object moves between illusion and materiality.
